JEDDAH — "Hola" — a photography exhibition featuring works of six young Saudis on the heritage of Spain’s Andalucía region opens Thursday at Art Jameel’s ‘House of Traditional Arts’ in the city's Al-Balad District.

The six photographers — Hasan Mubarak, Majid Angawi, Abdulmohsen Klaiby, Saleh Al Tuwaijri, Khalida Khanom, and Salwa Sejiny — are previous winners of the Art Jameel Photography Award, and all of them traveled to Andalucía earlier this year with Art Jameel to explore the region’s Islamic heritage.

Art Jameel’s project manager, Dalya Mousa said: “The exhibition is a collective efforts of the journey to Andalucía.

It has many photos with the four elements — heritage, people, nature, and the pure act of walking in Spain.”

This initiative is aimed to encourage the participants to show case their experience in Spain in an artistic way. It is also a tool to encourage photographers in the future to motivate them through Art Jameel’s photographic awards.

It will also give emerging photographers a chance to show case their work and inspire them to pursue photography as a career. Crossway Foundation, a British nongovernment organization in Britain, and Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts in Jeddah are partnering with Art Jameel in the initiative. The exhibition runs till Oct. 8.
