Starting with that first episode this season, Atif has been leveling up continuously since Tajdar-e-Haram. With his second appearance on this season with Pashto singer Gul from Pakistan, it seemed like Atif is reaching out for inspiration and a chance to see how an Atif song can sound, regardless of semantics.

His recent collaboration with Mai Dhai is culmination of the realization that he is able to make music that is deep, beyond his years and reliably resonant.

Kadi Ao Ni is a folk song that brushes through romanticism with an earthy feel. His rendition of his old single ‘Mahi Ve’ towards the end, also proves that true art cannot be imitated and only he could have done justice to it.

Pakistan has borne musical talent unlike any other but to be able to pitch a voice that has delivered Bollywood hits and collaborated with international rockstars (namely Guns n Roses), proves Atif’s ability put forth a vision of authenticity and creating era-defining art.

As an innovator of sound, he seems focused on not repeating himself. His risks on Coke Studio this season are not to be confused with a vain aspiration to showcase his vocal talent but rather focused on the bigger truth.

On his Facebook page, he makes sure you do not make that mistake. Following Tajdar-e-Haram, he posted: “This is not to showcase my singing skills but with a hope that my fans and listeners will go the extra mile and try to interpret what the meaning and significance of the poetry and lyrics are.”

Call him an educator, Atif has become a figure who inspires love for genius. In other words, a translator of revelations, one script at a time.

His persistence when it comes to pushing mainstream boundaries has helped him single-handedly join the ranks of the few legends who transcended genres influencing culture and even generations.
