Taipei City has several places, comparable with those in any asian city, that tourists can enjoy. Saudi Gazette has narrowed down the must see places for tourists to seven.

1 - National Palace Museum

This museum, located in Taipei’s Shilin district, is one of the top museums in Taipei, as it houses many Chinese historical artefacts. Most of the artefacts are from Beijing, and were brought to Taiwan by the nationalist government during the Sino-Japanese wars. Entry is NTD160, which is around SAR20. However, students will pay NTD80.

2 - Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is one of the tallest buildings in the world.  The building consists of 101 floors above ground, and five floors underground. After visiting the 91st floor, tourists can take photos, buy gifts, and grab a coffee at the top of Taipei

3 - Shilin night market

Taipei is well known for its night markets, and Shilin night market is one of the best, selling cheap souvenirs, clothes, food, and even has performances. Visitors will find some local games as well.

4 - Yangmingshan National Park

Yangmingshan is one of the biggest parks in Taipei, but it’s original name was Caoshan. The name referred to the tall silver grass that covered the highest slopes during the Japanese occupation. After the war ended, the government changed the name. The park is the only park in Taiwan that has volcanic geography and hot springs.

5 - Maokong Gondola

The Maokong Gondola opened in 2007 as a transport system in Taipei. It operates between Taipei Zoo and Maokong. The facilities of the gondola were contracted to the French company Poma.

6 - Mengjia Longshan Temple

This temple was built for Buddhist and Chinese folk deities in 1738 by settlers from Fujian in China. This temple is a place for worship and a place where Chinese settlers gather.

7 - Taipei Zoo

If you’re keen for nature and animals, the zoo will be a great choice to visit. Some people call it “Muzha Zoo”. It is considered to be a public zoological garden in the Wenshan District. Taipei Zoo is one of the most famous zoos in Taiwan and the largest zoo in Asia.
