You are probably used to paying money to get certain apps on your phone. But imagine the opposite: earning money for using an app. This may sound like utopia, but there are actually plenty of apps on the market that help you earn some cash. Here are some worth checking out.
Get discounts online
Ebates Cash Back & Coupons promises to pay you to shop online. Doesn’t sound bad, does it? The app works with 1,700 stores and gives you a discount of up to 26 percent every time you shop through them with a free account. Apart from giving you cash back, the app offers online coupons and free shipping as well as a price comparison tool to make sure you get the best deal. To start off well, Ebates gives you $5 bonus when you make your first purchase, $20 if you invite a friend, and even more for the second and third referral.
Get paid for ads
Slidejoy is one of many apps available that use your phone’s lock screen to advertise for a range of products. Some of these apps, such as Fronto, only reward you if you engage in the content, but Slidejoy pays you every time you unlock your phone, whether you slide left to get more information, slide up to see another card, or ignore the ad and go to your homepage by sliding right. Although the amount of money you will earn is not much – according to CNET about US$5 to US$15 a month – considering you don’t have to do anything to earn it may make it worth giving it a try.
Earn money for living healthier
In need of some extra motivation to eat more wholesome or get moving? Pact will keep you on track of your healthy living goals. Every week, you set your exercise and healthy eating goals. Make photos of your meals, check in to the gym, or connect with other fitness apps to track your workouts. If you stick to your goal you will get paid for it by members who did not meet theirs; if you fail you will have to pay up. Now if that doesn’t make you accountable… According to the developers, their app’s incentives helped their members reach over 95 percent of their goals.
Sell your photographs
If you are into photography, Foap is the app to make some cash! Foap offers a market to sell your smartphone photos. It is also a good place to get feedback on your snapshots from other users. Photos are sold for US$10, half of which goes to the photographer. Photos can be sold an unlimited amount of times, and you are free to upload as many photos as you wish. Big brands including Volvo Group, Hyatt and Mastercard also send out “missions” in which they ask for a certain photo. Join the mission, meet the deadline and get your reward, which is a higher licensing price for the best and most wanted photos.
Make money with surveys
There is a tonne of apps out there that pay you to take surveys, such as MySurvey, Valued Opinions and Surveys on the Go. It works pretty simple: You choose a survey, fill it out whenever and wherever you wish and – depending on the type and length of the survey – get paid anything from US$0.25 to US$5. Some sites will pay you by PayPal or check, while others offer gift cards. The survey results are typically sold to companies and market research firms. These apps are an easy way to earn a little extra.
