JEDDAH — Majlis-e-Ilm-o-Adab, Jeddah, recently organized the Holy Qur’an Recitation Competition and Naatiah program. Fakhre Zaman was the judge of the event. Faisal Tufail, a famous Jeddah poet, presided over the event.


In his address Tufail highlighted the role of the Holy Qur’an in shaping the destiny of mankind. He lauded Majlis-e-Ilm-o-Adab for its literary and social activities and hoped that its policy to help children in learning their social duty will make them future leaders.


Zaman, a newcomer in Jeddah, praised the Qur’an recitation skills of the children and thanked Majlis-e-Ilm-o-Adab, Jeddah for giving him “honor to judge the recitation skills of the young Qaris, and expressed his happiness over the show of their good command over Tajweed.


In the second session of the program famous Pakistani naat singer Muhammad Jamil recited many famous naats. The audience was spellbound by his melodious voice. Tufail and Mujahid Syed recited their naats and received applause from the audience.


Some couplets from Tufail’s naat:


Muqame rashk hai goya yeh aasman ke liye


Hai arze Taibah muyassar hamen aman ke liye


Guzar raha hoon Madinah ki rahguzar se hunooz


Uda raha hoon sitare main aasman ke liye


Mera sukhan bhi hai Taibah ki raushni ka amin


Meri sana hai Madinah ki kahkashan ke liye


Some couplets from Mujahid Syed’s naat:


Denkhenge Madinah denkhenge


Wo arsh ka zeenah dekhenge


Ai naam e Muhammad sall e ala


Rahmat ka khazinah dekhenge


Jub bulbule Taibah chahkega


Her dil men sakeenah dekhenge


Syed Hashim, Syed Muzzam, Sobiya Nadeem, Mariyam Nadeem, Marziyah Tariq, Syed Mustafa, Majidah Tashfeen, Syed Mubashshir and Syed Muhammad participated in the event. The vote of thanks was proposed by Syed Faizan Ahmad. Syed Amir Naqvi was master of the event.
