JEDDAH — Deputy Minister For Water & Electricity Saleh Bin Hussein Al-Awaji patronized Tuesday the opening ceremony of the Gulf Electricity Conference and Exhibition 2015 (GCC Power 2015), organized by the GCC Regional Committee for Electric Systems (GCC CIGRE).
The event which is being held at Jeddah Hilton on Nov. 3-5 brings together policy makers, distinguished personnel from utilities/ministries and technology leaders in the business community to share their vision in order to establish the initiatives required for the right solution.
In his opening speech, Al-Awaji welcomed the participants and wished them every success in the GCC Power conference and exhibition, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He said “the power industry is facing many challenges in the GCC region to meet the big demand. Here, the kingdom's leadership extends its unwavering support for the energy sector and we were able to meet these challenges and achieve our goals.”
He added: ''Exchange of expertise and working together to find innovative solutions to challenges the electricity sector is facing represent a high value to our country and communities.”
He noted in his speech that the Kingdom has witnessed an increase of 10.2% in the electricity demand during the summer of 2015.
He also highlighted the government's main focus on the sustainability of the kingdom's natural resources as a strategic option for the coming generations through upgrading the productivity of power stations, conserving energy, building smart networks and benefiting for renewable sources of energy.
The event gives participants the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the electricity and energy industry, as well as providing exhibitors with access to the most lucrative deals.
The conference offers the ideal forum for all those concerned in the power sector to develop business relations and discuss the issues and challenges facing the power sector in the region. Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss the latest trends, challenges, developments and strategies to meet the region's rapidly expanding energy needs through a series of panel and technical sessions.
In parallel, an exhibition for electrical equipment being held during the three-day GCC Power 2015 gathering more than 45 exhibitors showcases the latest technologies and power solutions around the globe.
