Big5, one of the largest construction exhibitions in the Middle East, is providing special features in this year’s event — free education for the public and has secured extra free space during the event for the exhibitors.

“In, addition, workshops that discusses topics focusing on sustainability, affordable housing design and architecture will be in focus in the exhibition,” said Josine Heijmans, Big5 event director.

Heijmans said this year’s edition will have something for everybody, but the emphasis would be on educating people attending the event. “This is one of Big5’s vital roles, and that’s why we are putting all our effort in this area,” she added.

But other facets of the exhibition too are intriguing, she said, adding: “Special workshops are set — the Project Management Theatre, which is a four days workshop. It starts from 11a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. except on the first day when it ends at 5.30 p.m.”

“For visitors and exhibitors interested in designs, a one-day design summit will be part of the event. Attendance to this summit is free and it will focus on the latest design trends and technology in the region,” Heijmans said.

Heijmans said, “Another highlight is that visitors who entered any workshops during the event could earn ‘Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certificates’.”

She, however, added dedicated workshops are only being provided for the platinum club members — people in the purchasing division for construction projects over $100 million.

She recommended that visitors register online before attending the Big5 event, which will take place from Nov. 23-26 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This year the exhibition will hold extra space.

Heijmans is optimistic that Big5 is a sellout with space occupied fully by exhibitors. “I hope that the event attracts even more exhibitors as well as participants,” she said.

“More space available at the trade center this year and in this is a new feature of the Big5, — the Big5 focus. By having this additional feature it will allow us to welcome new exhibitors to the Big5, including those who couldn’t join in the previous events and were on the waiting list,” she said.

In 2014, the show was a huge success and it was fully sold out event with over 2,800 exhibitors from around the world while attracting around 80,000 participants.
