NEW YORK — Right-winger Mats Zuccarello had a goal and two assists to lead the red-hot New York Rangers to a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Blues Thursday.

It was the seventh successive win for the Rangers.

Leading 4-3 after two periods, the Rangers cashed in on their first power play of the game as defenseman Ryan McDonagh put a slap shot through a screen set up by left winger Rick Nash at 2:44 of the third period to get his second goal of the season.

Defenseman Dan Girardi added an empty-netter with 1:34 left in the third to put the finishing touches on the Rangers win.

Avalanche 3, Bruins 2

Matt Duchene scored his sixth goal in the last five games midway through the third period to help the Colorado Avalanche erase a two-goal deficit and earn a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.

The Avalanche center finished off a pass from Mikhail Grigorenko at 6:39 of the final period after Ben Street forced a costly turnover from Bruins defenseman Kevin Miller.

Wild 3, Hurricanes 2 (OT)

Jason Zucker scored his second goal of the game with 1:10 remaining in overtime as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 at PNC Arena.

Zucker broke free along the right side and got the puck past Carolina goalie Cam Ward.

Capitals 5, Flyers 2

The Washington Capitals beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 at Wells Fargo Center.

Trailing 2-1 in the second period, the Capitals (11-4-0) scored three goals — two from Jason Chimera — to seize control and secure their fifth win in the last seven games.

Senators 3, Canucks 2

Goaltender Andrew Hammond made 33 saves as the Ottawa Senators snapped out of a two-game losing streak by beating the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 at Canadian Tire Centre.

Erik Karlsson led the Senators with a goal and an assist, while Bobby Ryan and Chris Wideman had the other Ottawa goals.

Sven Baertschi and Alex Edler scored for the Canucks.

Sabres 3, Panthers 2

The Buffalo Sabres, who had lost eight straight games against Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo, snapped that streak by prevailing 3-2 at the BB&T Center.

The Sabres (8-8-0) got their first win against Luongo since 2010 and passed the Panthers (6-7-3) in the Atlantic Division standings.

Lightning 3, Flames 1

Late goals by Steven Stamkos and Tyler Johnson helped Tampa Bay earn a 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames at Amalie Arena.

The Lightning (8-8-2) ended a three-game home losing streak and helped goalie Ben Bishop end a five-game losing streak. He allowed two goals or fewer in each of the five losses.

Maple Leafs 2, Predators 1

Center Peter Holland scored the only shootout goal for either team as Toronto edged the Nashville Predators 2-1 after five rounds of a shootout.

Goaltender James Reimer came up with 21 saves for the Maple Leafs, while goalie Pekka Rinne collected 22 for the Predators.

Elsewhere it was: Devils 3, Blackhawks 2; Stars 6, Jets 3; Coyotes 4, Oilers 1; Kings 2, Islanders 1. — Reuters
