RIYADH — A leading global ICT solutions provider, Huawei has begun a nation-wide Innovation Road Show collaborating with representatives from the government and private sector to preview how the Saudi economy can benefit through new advancements in “cloud” services and applications in the coming years. The Huawei road show is running now through to Dec. 24.

A number of senior representatives from the telecommunications industry, government, academia, and IT community are expected to attend the road show during stops throughout Riyadh, Dammam & Khobar. As part of the campaign, Huawei experts will offer guidance on how new cloud-based IT solutions can be applied in various enterprise environments, particularly in fields of oil & gas, healthcare, education, and banking & finance.

“By working together with organizations from across the Kingdom, we pledge to help government, corporate, and telco partners to capitalize on new opportunities and strengthen their competitive advantage by making IT simple and business more agile,” says Ramadan Ding, CEO of Huawei Saudi Arabia.

Analysts at IDC have noted that the outsourcing, managed services, and datacenter services market in Saudi Arabia is expected to total $570.6 million in 2015, up 16.2 percent year on year. The cloud market in particular will perform strongly, spurred by the growing maturity of the Saudi ICT market and the increase in the number of companies using cloud services.

One of the highlights of the Huawei road show will be two Huawei demo containers which give visitors the opportunity to experience firsthand the latest innovations in data center solutions, virtual servers & desktops, plus a wide range of vertical industry solutions. That will include access to a fully-functional Huawei data center container operating in a live environment inside the demo truck.

During the most recent stops, participants have recognized that deciding how to store growing amounts of digital information and sort out what is valuable and what is not remains a key challenge for many organizations; one that the road show will look to address.

Huawei is currently one of the leading pioneers within Saudi Arabia’s technology sector providing the most comprehensive ICT portfolio to customers in the telecom, enterprise, and consumer space.

To meet the demands of the Saudi market in particular, earlier this year Huawei launched a new Joint Innovation Center together with Saudi Aramco and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). Within the Kingdom Huawei has supported similar knowledge-sharing initiatives such as its Annual Seeds for the Future education program, which offers select students each year the opportunity to develop practical skills that will prepare them for a career in the ICT industry. — SG
