Hall lifts Oilers over Sharks in OT

EDMONTON, Alberta — Taylor Hall scored with 1:01 left in overtime to lift the Edmonton Oilers over the San Jose Sharks 4-3 Wednesday night for their fourth straight victory.

Leon Draisaitl, Jordan Eberle and Iiro Pakarinen also scored for the Oilers.

The Sharks lost their fifth straight. Justin Braun, Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski scored for San Jose.

Draisaitl set up Hall’s winner, feeding the winger a pass on a 2-on-1 that Hall tipped in for his 12th of the season.

Pakarinen made it 3-3 with 4:37 left. He took a shot from the top of the circle that goalie Martin Jones didn’t see. Anders Nilsson made 27 saves for the Oilers.

Bruins 3, Canadiens 1

Three unanswered third-period goals lifted Boston to a win over Montreal at the Bell Centre.

Tuukka Rask stopped 31 shots for the Bruins, who snapped a seven-game losing streak versus the Canadiens. Mike Condon made 20 saves for Montreal.

Loui Eriksson, Landon Ferraro and Patrice Bergeron scored for Boston as Paul Byron replied for the Canadiens, who lost three straight for the first time this season.

Canucks 2, Rangers 1

Left-winger Daniel Sedin scored midway through the third period to break a tie and give the Vancouver Canucks a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers.

Defenseman Alex Edler scored on a power play and added an assist for the Canucks. Center Henrik Sedin had two assists for Vancouver (11-11-8). Center Dan Boyle scored for the Rangers (18-8-3) on a penalty shot.

Penguins 4, Avalanche 2

Right-winger Beau Bennett scored twice during a three-goal flurry in the third period as the Pittsburgh Penguins rallied to beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-2.

Defenseman Olli Maatta got the game winner when the Penguins scored three times in a span of 3:24 to beat the Avalanche.

Center Matt Cullen also scored and right winger Patric Hornqvist had two assists for the Penguins.
