ABHA — A fuel truck overturned and sent gas spilling out on Wadi Hashbal-Al-Hayma Road in Khamis Mushayt. Asir Civil Defense spokesman Capt. Abdulilah Al-Shahrani said the truck carrying was carrying 30 tons of gas when it toppled over and spewed gas all over the street. Civil Defense officers were able to drag the truck to the side of the road so they could clean the gas from the road surface. The truck’s driver sustained severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

ARAR — The Civil Defense rescued two people who were stranded in the Arar Valley Dam. Northern Borders Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Gen. Fad Al-Enizi a team of divers hauled the victims from the dam, and they were then taken to hospital. The Civil Defense said the general public needed to stay away from areas where swimming is prohibited and to follow health and safety rules.
Over 9,000 liters
of liquor seized
ABHA — Police seized several barrels of liquor from a site used to manufacture alcohol. According to Abha Police, officers found bottles and barrels containing more than 9,000 liters of liquor buried underground during an inspection campaign. Police also found 19 bottles containing 13 liters of liquor ready for distribution. Officers arrested an African man with no identity documents. They destroyed the liquor and seized tools and equipment used in the manufacturing operation.
Motorist rams into
police car, cop killed
HAIL – A police officer was killed while on duty and another injured after their car was rammed. According to Hail Police, the officers asked a young man driving a car without license plates to pull up. The driver refused to comply and rammed his car into the police vehicle, which toppled over on impact, critically injuring the officers. They were taken to King Khaled Hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries. Police later found the car and arrested the driver on several charges including violating traffic laws and assaulting police officers.
Fumes from coal heater
wipes out Arab family
TABUK — Four members of an Arab family suffocated to death after inhaling fumes from a coal heater at their home. Tabuk Police spokesman Lt. Gen. Khalid Al-Ghabban said police were contacted by a relative who said the family had been out of contact for the past five days. The police broke into the family’s house in Al-Rowdah District on Saturday morning and found a woman, her husband and their two children dead inside. Investigators said the couple and their children might have suffocated after using the coal heater.
