JEDDAH — Pakistan Consul General Shehryar Akbar Khan hosted a dinner for members of Jeddah-based Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF) at Lasani (Spinzer) restaurant on Monday.
The reception was attended by Asif Hasan Memon, deputy consul general and acting consul (press), Abdul Wahab Somroo consul commercial, Shahid Naeem, President PJF, Jamil Rathore, general secretary PJF, senior journalists Syed Absar, Khalid Khursheed and Arsalan Hashmi from Urdu News, Mohammed Amil Usmani and Munsour Nizamuddin from Makkah, members of PJF included Syed Mujeeb-ul-Hasan, Yahiya Ashfaq, Mahmood Hasan, Akram Asad, Raja Arshad Hussain, Khalid Cheema, Fouzia Khan and Khadija Malik.
Khan acknowledged the enormous contribution made by the PJF in developing relationship between the two countries and promoting soft image of Pakistan. He said in his opinion, media is the strongest tool of 21st century used in all field of life. “As I arrived just two months ago and it is my first interaction with you I feel proud to welcome all of you here,” he said.
He shared his experiences and wished to promote peer-to-peer relations between Pakistani journalists and consulate. He said Jeddah consulate is the largest mission of Pakistan abroad. It has a very experienced team and seasoned officers ready to help and serve community members living in the western region or came from other regions.
He added, “Although the consulate has limited resources and powers but all efforts have been made to provide best services to the community which they deserve.”
Khan assured improvement in the services and providing more facilities in building premises will continue. He appealed to all Pakistani nationals living in the Kingdom to respect the token, which they received when they applied for Machine Readable Passports (Urgent/Ordinary) or any welfare services from the consulate.
