JEDDAH —  Although that the Saudi International Motor Show (SIMS) attracted a large number of visitors, many Saudis were disappointed at the show because several luxuries automobiles companies did not participate.

SIMS, which is being held from Dec. 13-17 at the Jeddah Convention and Exhibition Centre, is considered one of the biggest motor shows in Saudi Arabia. Around 100 companies participated and American, European, Chines, Japanese, and Korean automobile companies are showcasing their 2016 new models. Offers for some of the cars were available in the show, too.

The annual show not only previews the newest cars but also motorcycles, accessories, music systems and the tuning and aftermarket sectors with plenty of action continuing outside from Nissan and Hyundai, who are hosting interactive driving experiences.

Visitors can enjoy watching the new models of cars inside and outside the center. They can also watch live action events such as, the final round of Saudi Star Drift Championship, off-road experience, car customization, interactive areas and electronic virtual driving.

Entertaining sports are available for visitors to try and many families have attended.

Jamela Khalawi, a Saudi women, who came with her family, explained that she liked the show and the newly displayed cars inside and outside the exhibition. She came this year because she enjoyed the 2014 show with her family.

For example, Toyota is displaying the new Hybrid car, so there are new models as well as novel ideas in the show. Yet, all over, I expected the show to be better than that. Cars like, Lexus and BMW are not part of this years show.

Wael Jamal, a Saudi, said that the show is good and pleasant, yet some of the cars companies have not showcased their luxury models or they did not appear during the show.
