LOS ANGELES — The Golden State Warriors fizzled without red hot Stephen Curry Wednesday, falling 114-91 to the Mavericks in Dallas in just their second defeat of the NBA season.
The Mavericks made the most of Curry’s absence with a lower left leg injury, racing to an early 17-point lead that they stretched to as many as 30 in the third quarter.
The Mavericks led 60-42 at halftime and with forward Harrison Barnes, backup guard Leandro Barbosa and reserve center Festus Ezeli also all sidelined by injury, Warriors interim coach Luke Walton had few options.
Golden State guard Klay Thompson had one of his worst nights of the season, connecting on just four of 15 shots from the floor and one of two from the free throw line for 10 points, his lowest contribution since November 11. Thirty-two of the Mavericks’ 60 first-half points came in the paint, where they held a 22-point advantage at the interval.
Dallas guard J.J. Barea, making his fourth straight start in place of injured Deron Williams, scored a game-high 23 points including five of seven from three-point range.
Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki had 18 points and eight rebounds and center ZaZa Pachulia posted his 17th double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Spurs 112, Suns 79
Forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds despite sitting out the entire fourth quarter as the San Antonio Spurs rolled past the Phoenix Suns to remain unbeaten at home.
Forward Kawhi Leonard added 19 points for San Antonio (28-6), which has the second-best record in the NBA and are off to their best start since the 2010-11 season.
It was their 19th successive win at home this season and extended their winning streak in San Antonio to 28 games.
Lakers 112, Celtics 104
Retiring Kobe Bryant struggled through a miserable shooting night but hit a key three-pointer with 1:40 left in his last appearance in Boston as the Los Angeles Lakers held on for a 112-104 victory over the Celtics.
Bryant finished with 15 points and was 5-of-18 from the field after getting a big ovation in pre-game introductions, though was booed every time he touched the ball.
Jordan Clarkson led the Lakers with 24 points. Lou Williams added 19 and rookie D’Angelo Russell added 17 off the bench.
Isaiah Thomas scored 24 points for Boston, who cut an 11-point deficit to two shortly before Bryant’s three-pointer.
Reserve Evan Turner added 20 points and Jae Crowder contributed 17 for Boston.
Bulls 102, Pacers 100 (OT)
Jimmy Butler tipped in an alley-oop pass from Pau Gasol with 1.2 seconds remaining in overtime and Chicago edged Indiana.
Butler scored 23 of his 28 points after halftime, hit the game-tying layup with 25.9 seconds left in regulation and blocked Paul George’s layup at the overtime buzzer.
Aaron Brooks came off the bench to score a season-high 29 points and rookie forward Bobby Portis added 16 for Chicago, which played its fourth overtime game of the season.
Magic 100, Nets 93
Center Nikola Vucevic scored 20 points, including eight in the final two minutes, to lead the Orlando Magic to a 100-93 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
Guard Evan Fournier had 17 points and five assists. Reserve Victor Oladipo had 12 points and seven rebounds. Forward Tobias Harris had 12 points and eight rebounds.
Brooklyn center Brook Lopez had his second consecutive big game with 24 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots. He had 26 points and 12 rebounds on Monday in a win over the Miami Heat.
Guard Bojan Bogdanovic scored 20 points while forward Thaddeus Young had 16 points.
