SAKAKA — Director of Inspections at the Labor Office in Al-Jouf Fahd Al-Dandan said an ongoing inspection campaign has covered 52 retail establishments and recorded more than 17 violations in the past week alone. Inspectors recorded several labor law violations. Seven violations recorded in Sakaka, seven in Qurayyat and three in Tabarjal. The violations included operating without a license, employing illegal expatriates and submitting false information to the Labor Office.
Bisha hospital receives
1,243 emergency cases
ABHA — The General Hospital in Bisha received 1,243 emergency cases in the past three months, spokesman for the region's Health Affairs Abdullah Al-Ghamdi said. He said various polyclinics and hospitals in the region refer emergency cases to Bisha General Hospital when they do not have necessary facilities to treat them. During the past three months, 1,111 cases were referred by clinics while different hospitals sent a total of 132 critical cases to Bisha General Hospital, which received 85 percent of the transfer requests through its patients consultancy program. The program coordinates between the hospital and other health institutions in the region to save time and efforts for patients and their relatives.

302 violations in a year
RIYADH — Nafi Municipality recorded a total of 302 violations and issued 43 warning notices against food stores in the past year. Director of the Municipality Mutib Al-Mitairi said the municipality organized a total of 485 inspection campaigns throughout the year. The campaigns included inspection of 1,140 stores. The municipality shut down five stores for violating health and safety regulations. It seized 154 kilograms of foodstuffs and 400 liters of cooking oil not suitable for human consumption.
124 expats arrested
for labor violations
DAMMAM — A total of 124 illegal expatriates were arrested in Abqaiq in the past year. The Labor Office organized a total of 85 inspection campaigns in the city, which led to the arrests of 41 expatriates for working for someone who was not their sponsor. The inspectors found 20 others working in jobs reserved for Saudis, 15 working in positions different from what was stated on their labor card and 24 working outdoors under the sun in violation of a mid-day work ban in hot summer months. Six others were arrested for falsifying information.

WADI AL-DAWASIR — The Labor Office in Wadi Al-Dawasir recorded 40 labor law violations over the past three days. Wadi Al-Dawasir Labor Office Director Minahi Al-Qahtani said inspectors of the campaign covered shopping centers and several markets. All violators were penalized according to the Labor Law. The office encourages the general public to report any violations sighted.

RIYADH — The Civil Defense extinguished a total of 3,448 fires caused by waste during the past year. Riyadh Civil Defense reported the number one cause of fires is the burning of waste outside the city limits. The second cause of fires is burning plant and animal waste at farms and the third cause is electrical malfunctions in residential buildings. The Civil Defense allows the burning of waste under strict regulations that must be followed in order to ensure the safety of people and buildings.
