JEDDAH — Mufti Mohammed Omer Mohammed Shafiq Nadwi, a renowned Islamic scholar and researcher from the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, said at present Muslims worldwide are very much in a disturbed and unrest state everywhere. Due to this state Muslims are suffering poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, and extremely difficult micro economic imbalances.

“No doubt each one of us have thought, discussed and made numerous efforts to stop this decline and correct the situations,” he said in a lecture on the topic "Current problems of the Muslim Ummah and their solutions in the light of Qur'an and Sunnah".

The International Islamic Fiqh Academy is an institute for the advanced study of Islam based in Jeddah. It was created following a decision of the second summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference 1974 and inaugurated in February 1981.

The event was hosted by Pakistan Writer Forum (PWF), a well known literary organization of poets, writers, journalists and intellectuals, at the residence of professor Asif Ahmad near Masjid Amir Hamza Aziziyah recently.

To deal with the solutions of these problems, Nadwi said, “We should focus on the need to developed a comprehensive strategy of an Islamic approach in the light of Qur'an and Sunnah in the Muslim countries.”

“Islam provides comprehensive guidance for humanity to lead their lives both at personal and collective level. Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. (Sura Al-Ra'ad 13:11). Be change yourself first to change the world,” Nadwi added.

He said Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) according to Noble Qur'an has superior standard of character. Allah confirms in the Noble Qur'an the Akhlaq of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) “And most certainly you are on sublime morality (exalted standard of character)” (68:4).

“If we live and act according to the Sunnah and bear a good character we will benefit in numerous ways. So, let us make a promise to ourselves that we will never let our Akhlaq (Islamic behavior) collapse,” said Nadwi.

Earlier the program began with the recitation of few verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by a  welcome address by Neaz Ahmed, chairman PWF. He also thanked all guests for attending the lecture. Prominent members and distinguished guests of the community attended the lecture.
