JEDDAH — “I feel pleasure to announce in presence of Ahmed Uddin Owaisi, president Bazm-e-Ittehad Saudi Arabia and Canada that like previous years this year too our annual mushaira (poetry recitation) Bayaad Salar-e-Millat in memory of Salar-e-Millat late Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi will be held in March 2016,” said said Mohammed Obaid-ur-Rehman vice president, Bazm-e-Ittehad Jeddah (BIJ).
He made this announcement at a reception organized by BIJ in honor of Aziz Ahmed, senior journalist and joint editor Etemaad Urdu Daily from Hyderabad, India, at Darbar Hall Shadab restaurant Aziziyah recently.
Large number of Indian community members, including Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Khaja Viqaruddin, Mehtab Qader, Arif Quraishi, Shamim Kauser, Hassan Bayazeed, Abdul Jabbar, Abdul Rafay, Altaf Shehryar, Abdul Rehman Baig and others were in attendance. Mohammed Rafiq, vice president Bazm-e-Ittehad, Riyadh, too attended the function.
While giving welcomed address, Rehman further said the selection of prominent Urdu poets from Indian subcontinent, Middle East and across Saudi Arabia has been made and their names will be announced shortly. He hoped that this year also the event will be successful and memorable.
He gave a brief introduction of Aziz Ahmed and thanked him for attending the function at such a short notice.
In his address Ahmed Uddin Owaisi said “All India Majlis-e-Ittehad ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has never went behind power. Our senior leaders received many offers from government but they never accepted. They stood firm to guide and serve the Muslim community of India.”
Owaisi advised members of BIJ to keep unity among themselves and avoid differences. He praised the services of Aziz Ahmed in field of journalism.
Chief guest Aziz Ahmed thanked BIJ for the honor. He praised Ahmed Uddin Owaisi leadership that has led to the proper management of BIJ in Saudi Arabia.
He received from Ahmed Uddin Owaisi and Naveed Afrooz bouquets, Eqal and Mishla (Traditional Arabic wearing).
Mirza Mazhar Ali Baig, adviser, and Syed Mahmoud Ali, chief patron BIJ, appreciated valuable services of Aziz Ahmed at Etemaad daily. They congratulated him for performing Umrah and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque.
Earlier function began with recitation of few verses from Holy Qur'an by Hafiz and Qari Mohammed Noor. Yousuf uddin Amjad presented Naat. Mohammed Abdul Qayyum, general secretary, conducted the proceedings.
