JEDDAH – The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Jeddah Police has arrested two men for robbing an Egyptian deputy consul general.
The two criminals driving a car snatched the woman's handbag and sped away. This incident happened in north Jeddah.
Jeddah Police with follow up by its director Maj. Gen. Masoud Bin Faisal Al-Adwani formed a CID team.
The handbag contained the diplomat's mobile phone. So the policemen focused on shops that purchase mobile phones, and managed to locate a shop which bought the mobile phone. The shopkeeper provided the security men with a video footage from the shop’s surveillance camera.
The footage was shown to several shopkeepers in the area. One of them identified one of the suspects.
The information collected led to locating the suspect’s residence in Al-Salama district. The house was kept under surveillance to uncover his accomplices. Within hours, his accomplice in the crime was also identified. He turned out to be a Syrian expatriate in his twenties. Both were arrested.
