Islamic countries must join military alliance, Ex-Chief JI says

JEDDAH — Syed Munawar Hasan, ex-chief (of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, said the alliance of 32 Muslim countries against terrorism will be capable of stopping terrorist activities therefore the remaining Islamic countries must join this alliance.

He was speaking at the reception organized by Social Communication Committee (SCC) a subsidiary of Jamaat-e-Islami Jeddah at Spices Village Restaurant.

He added, the military alliance of Islamic countries is under the requirements of present time and conditions. He hoped that issues between Iran and Saudi Arabia will be solved by mutual dialogue.

He also appreciated the role of Pakistan in trying to resume the bilateral links between these two countries.

Regarding the death penalties to the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh, Hassan said the Pakistani leadership have put this case in front of international court as Haseena Wajid government is abusing the three-nation agreement between Indira Gandhi (India), Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (Pakistan) and Sheikh Mujibur Rehman (Bangladesh) as there will no issue opened in lieu of war crimes after the fall of Dhaka in December 1971.

Talking about unrest in Karachi and Balochistan, he urged the government to take proper action against the criminal arrested by rangers in Karachi and establish proper laws against corruption.

He also said that there are enough proofs of foreign intervention in Balochistan and government of Pakistan needs to be serious to punish the culprits. The government also seems to be serious about Murree accord as they have changed the chief minister of Balochistan province.

He asked the government of Pakistan to remove the anomalies of economic corridor and Kala Bagh dam and safeguard the interest of all provinces. But these projects must be completed within the timeframe as to bring prosperity to Pakistan. He appreciated that members of Pakistani community from various political parties, forums and association that gathered here have a common stance on different national issues. He thanked all the participants, especially the management of such a positive gathering, while urging them to remember the cause of (Pakistan ka matalab kia – la ilaha illalla).

Earlier the program started with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Iqbal Malik. Shahid Lateef, chief of JI Jeddah, presided over the gathering.

Mian Zulfiqar, chief of SCC, welcomed all guests and shed light on the aims and objectives of the organization. Asif Mahmood Butt (registrar of Engineering Welfare Forum) conducted the proceedings. Aamir Jamil and Mushtaq Munawar delivered the vote of thanks.
