NAJRAN — A minor was run over by a car and stabbed 12 times on Thursday. Najran Police spokesman Capt. Abdullah Al-Ashawi said a 13-year-old boy was run over by an unidentified driver. After running the boy over, the driver got out of his car and stabbed him 12 times before fleeing the scene. The teenager was transported to a local hospital and is currently recovering. Police are still investigating the incident as the driver remains unidentified.

drowns in cistern


HAIL — A young boy drowned in a cistern in Badaie Al-Ruwaidat, south of Hail, on Friday. Hail Civil Defense reported the boy was nine years old and was with his friends playing near a three-meter-deep cistern. When the boy fell into the cistern, his friends ran to the boy’s parents and informed them, but by the time his parents arrived and pulled him out, he had already drowned.

Missing family found
in Al-Nufud Desert


HAIL — Civil Defense officers found a family who had gone missing late last week in the Al-Nufud Desert north of Hail on Saturday. The family, consisting of Abdulkarim Al-Shammary and his wife and son, went missing on Thursday. Family members tried to contact them but were unable to reach them. The family then contacted the Civil Defense, which formed a search party along with a youth volunteering group. Rescuers were concerned for the safety of the missing family, as the weather was very cold with temperatures dropping to 6 degrees Celsius. The search party kept calling the head of the family until he picked up at dawn on Saturday. Once the volunteering group was able to open a connection line with the family, they were able to locate and rescue them.

Reckless driver knocks
down cop at checkpoint


HAIL — A traffic policeman was killed after he was hit by a car near a police checkpoint. Director of Hail Traffic Department Col. Bander Al-Harbi said a reckless driver nearing a checkpoint hit the policeman, killing him instantly. Police were able to track down and arrest the driver after he tried to escape. Two months ago, another policeman died in an accident caused by a driver in a similar manner.

Three injured in
Tabarjal accident


SAKAKA — Three people were injured in a road accident in Tabarjal governorate on Saturday. Jouf Red Crescent spokesman Hamdan Al-Dhuwaihi said two of the victims suffered critical injuries, while the third escaped with mild injuries. Those with critical injuries were transported to Prince Miteb Bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Sakaka.
