LuLu Hypermarket in cooperation with the Department of Organic Agriculture has organized a week-long, Saudi Agro Festival “From Our Land” at its all outlets in the Kingdom.

The inaugural ceremony of the Saudi Agro Fest was held last week in Dammam and Riyadh where it exhibited wide ranges of locally grown fruits and vegetables at affordable prices. Lulu is making special offers on local fruits and vegetables during the festival.

Most of LuLu’s local procurement of fruits and vegetables are from Al-Kharj, Al-Quassim, Hail. Jizan, Qatif and Al-Ahsa. “Last few years we have been promoting the local agriculture produce in all our stores and now we want to take it to next level by creating more awareness for the residents to increase its consumption.

To generate awareness among Saudi residents about the ‘kitchen garden’ farming method, LuLu join hands with a local association called ‘Focus Saudi’, which is a fraternity Youth Organization.  The objective of this initiative is to make a green environment and to build up best kitchen gardening system among Saudis. ‘Focus Saudi’ will assess the Kitchen Gardens and will select the winners who will bag some very lucrative prizes.

LuLu has been focusing on benefits of eating vegetables and fruits and maintains that such a habit will keep people healthier and it will help to reduce fat. LuLu always prefer to give farm fresh and quality fruits and vegetables to its customers and therefore, before procuring fresh items, its fruits and vegetable expert visit the procuring locations to make sure that the products are fresh and meeting the quality standard.

During the event, there were some very attractive offers on fruits and vegetables, meat of camel, lamb, poultry and other meat related products as well as on local delicatessen.

The festival attracted a cross section of people from all nationalities residing in the Kingdom because locally produced fruit and vegetables are economically more beneficial to the customers. — SG
