CAIRO – The media delegation accompanying Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman during his current visit to Egypt visited a number of cultural and media organizations and bodies in Cairo on Thursday. They were accorded a warm reception in a festive air featuring staging of traditional Egyptian folk arts and songs.

The delegation is comprised of editors-in-chief of major Saudi newspapers as well as several writers, men of letters, thinkers and cultural figures.

Members of the delegation visited the headquarters of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces where they were received by Sayed Khattab, president of the authority and other officials. Khattab briefed the delegation on the activities of the authority and the social and educational role played by it in serving the Egyptian society. He emphasized the deep-rooted relations between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, especially in the cultural fields. The delegation watched folk performances highlighting the salient features of the Egyptian heritage. A documentary film on the activities of the authority and its sites in various regions of the country was also presented on the occasion.

Then, the delegation visited the premises of the Egyptian Press Syndicate. Yehia Kalash, president of the syndicate, and other officials received them. The two sides underscored the significance of exchanging expertise and visits to discuss major issues related to media in both the states. Saudi media figures also visited the Egyptian General Book Authority headquarters where they were received by its President Haitham Hajj Ali and other officials. The delegation members thanked the officials of the Egyptian cultural bodies for their warm reception and hospitality.
