ABHA — The Civil Defense are continuing to search for a man who went missing during the floods on Saturday. Asir Civil Defense representative, Col. Mohammad Al-Asmi, said they received reports of a 27-year-old Saudi man who had gone missing somewhere between Bariq and Tanumah governorates. The man is yet to be found.

Dad denies domestic abuse allegations


TABUK — A father has denied allegations of domestic abuse, claiming that his son is mentally disabled. A representative from Tabuk Social Affairs, Ahmad Jumuah, said the police have been investigating a video which went viral on social media showing a young boy with his brother saying that he is being physically abused by his father’s wife. The police have identified the boys and brought the father in for questioning, but the father said both of his sons were mentally disabled and that their claims are not true. The father also said that his wife is the boys’ mother and that he has no other wife. Specialists confirmed that the boys are mentally disabled and the police concluded that the boys have never been physically assaulted as there were no signs of physical assault.

Man threatens to commit suicide

DAMMAM — A man threatened to jump from a high floor in a shopping center at the weekend. Eastern Province Police, Col. Ziyad Al-Raqiti, said they received reports of a man threatening to end his life by jumping off a high floor in a shopping center in Al-Khobar Governorate. The police were able to detain the man, who was in his 30s and from a Gulf country. The man showed signs of mental illness and was taken to a mental hospital for examination.


300 illegal fences demolished


DAMMAM — The municipality demolished 300 fences put up in violation of local rules and regulations. Al-Khobar Municipality ran the inspection campaign across several neighborhoods in the west of the governorate. The campaign covered all establishments, from restaurants to beauty salons and construction works, and included Al-Aqrabiyah neighborhood, Workers’ City, the Green Belt and the Golden Belt. The campaign saw 28 vehicles towed away and 300 fences demolished. The municipality aims to maintain a presentable appearance of the city by strictly implementing regulations and penalties.

Crane collapses in Taif tunnel


TAIF — A crane collapsed on Saturday inside the tunnel of Prince Mansour Bridge. According to Taif Municipality, the construction of Prince Mansour Bridge was 90 percent complete, however a crane used for construction collapsed but did not cause any injuries or significant damage to the crane or the bridge. The Civil Defense removed the crane and the construction work is continuing.
