JEDDAH — Winning the Women Appreciation Month (WAM) Fashion Award is a great opportunity for young fashion designers to showcase their designs in front of the most influential fashion community and start their online business. The names of the three winners will be announced on April 23 in Jeddah.
WAM Fashion Award trophy and branding consultation from femi9, customized an online store for one year, and product display zone at Tabateek store for three months, are some of the prizes at stake for winners.
PR and CSR Executive of WAM, Wissal Dandachi, said this year, the Award aims to encourage creative fashion designers to showcase their talents and launch their brands in the fashion marketplace. They are targeting women who are creative, passionate, truly talented in fashion, and have an aspiring ambitious vision that they believe in.
Dandachi noted that “women in fashion definitely deserve to be appreciated, particularly in Saudi Arabia, where they are excelling with remarkable talents that are globally competitive. Fashion is a form of creativity, and appreciating this, encourages women to develop and express their creativity in whichever domain they are passionate about.”
The Women Appreciation Month (WAM) initiative this year aims to support talented Saudi women in actualizing their visions and raise social awareness for the creative talents in the community. WAM is also working toward inspiring the society to collaborate with local talents and support their growth as well as presenting business opportunities for female entrepreneurs in the Kingdom.
Dandachi pointed out that since its launch in 2011, WAM has been raising awareness for the roles of women in society, and their substantial achievements in different areas. Women Appreciation Month has encouraged the society to recognize the efforts done by women. Each year, WAM has received more and more support from the public and private sector in KSA, inspired to take part in giving women the appreciation they deserve.
“In witnessing this support, women in Saudi Arabia have become more motivated to have a more influential role and be more proactive in society. Today, women feel more valued and hence are more eager to engage with the society, and take pride in their achievements,” Dandachi added.
