ABHA — Three people were killed and third was critically injured in a road accident on Saturday. Asir Red Crescent spokesman Ahmad Ibrahim Asiri said the Red Crescent received reports of a road accident involving two vehicles, including a car with three people that toppled over on Abha-Khamis Mushayt Road. According to paramedics, two people were killed instantly, while two others were severely injured. The injured victims received medical treatment on the spot and were transported to a local hospital, but one died before reaching the hospital. The other victim is currently undergoing treatment and his health condition is unstable.

Expat inhales gas, in critical state

ABHA — A Yemeni worker is currently recovering in hospital after inhaling high levels of gas when he became trapped in a gas station tank on Friday. Asir Civil Defense spokesman Col. Mohammad Al-Assimi said they received reports of a Yemeni worker in his 30s who had lost consciousness after descending into a concrete tank at a gas station on Bariq Road in Al-Yamamah district, Al-Mjaridah governorate. The Civil Defense found the worker unconscious at the bottom of the tank, hauled him out and took him to a local hospital. The man is currently in a critical condition.

2,787 infiltrators
held in 6 months

JAZAN — Police arrested a total of 2,787 people trying to enter the Kingdom illegally over the past six months. Jazan Police spokesman Khalid Bin Qaziz said over 36,000 bullets, 70 weapons, over 1.2 tons of hashish and a small quantity of amphetamine pills were impounded from the infiltrators. Police also recorded a total of 34 smuggling attempts during the period, in addition to 265 forgery and identity theft cases. A total of 633 smugglers were arrested and 596 vehicles and eight motorcycles used to smuggle illegal substances seized. They also seized large quantities of alcohol and SR283,000 in currency during the period.

19 evacuated from building on fire

Al-AHSA — The Civil Defense evacuated 19 people from an apartment building after it caught fire on Friday. Eastern Province Civil Defense spokesman Col. Mansour Al-Dowsary said the Civil Defense received reports of a fire in a three-story residential building that had a total of 30 apartments.

The fire broke out in a kitchen on the ground floor. There were 19 residents trapped in the kitchen, but Civil Defense rescuers were able to evacuate the kitchen and extinguish the fire. No one was injured.
