Saudi Arabian Airline Company (Saudia) has digitalized the cockpits of its aircraft making them paperless especially on its four B787-9 Dreamliners becoming the first airline company in the region to undertake this move. Saudia received three Dreamliners in February 2016 and one in April. The pilots will now be using the electronic flight bag (EFB) instead of the booklets or papers obtaining the flight instructions. Director of EFB project, Capt. Arif Jazaa Al-Shammari, said the cabin will be totally paperless and the cockpit crew can now review the airports, the flight data and read the reference books electronically. "The captain can make his takeoff and landing calculations and amend them electronically depending on the condition of the runway and the aircraft itself without committing any human error," he said. He said a support office for the project has been established and is working 24/7.
