JEDDAH – A seven-member managing committee of International Indian School-Jeddah (IISJ) has been elected from among 17 candidates for a three-year term. In the elections held on Saturday, 1,360 parents out of a total of 6,170 had cast their ballots. Mohammed Iqbal Manissarkunnath from Kerala, who scored the highest number of votes (776), is set to be elected as the new chairman of the committee.

The other members of the committee are as follows, with their respective states and votes in brackets: Shamsuddeen Kodakkodan (Kerala -773), Mohammed Asif Rameez Daudi (Bihar -765), Majid Saleem Siddiqi (UP -718), Chandramohan Velliyaprayil Balan (Maharashtra -700), Tahir Ali (Karnataka -587), and Noorul Ameen (Tamil Nadu -585).

IISJ Principal and Chief Election Commissioner Syed Masood Ahmed declared the results after a full day exercise of polling and counting process, starting from 8.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. “The new committee will meet to elect the chairman after getting formal approval for the results from the Ministry of Education,” he said. There will be a panel of three reserve members. Three candidates, who secured the highest number of votes, following the seven members, will be the reserve members. They are Mohammed Rafi Mohammed Yusuf (Tamil Nadu), Jawed Alam (UP), and Mohammed Abdul Mubeen (Andhra Pradesh).

The declaration of results was held in the presence of Faisal Al-Jahdali, observer from the Ministry of Education, and Mohammed Shahid Alam, deputy consul general and school observer.
