JEDDAH — Saudi food bank Eta’am is launching several campaigns during Ramadan to implement their mission of educating society about saving food and encouraging people to be grateful for the blessings they have.

In collaboration with Bab Rizq Jameel, Eta’am is offering opportunities for people to volunteer during Ramadan with the NGO and help society.

During the blessed month, visitors at Marriott hotels in the Kingdom will find lanterns that include not only sweets but also brochures about the NGO and how to save food.

The NGO has also launched a hashtag, ‘continuing it as grace’, to encourage people to count there blessings and thank God for them.

The NGO, which donated more than 37,000 meals across several regions in the Kingdom last week, has had some success in spreading the cultural concept of saving food in Saudi Arabia, especially among young people.

Eta’am has launched a number of programs over recent years, including a program targeted at schoolchildren called Ambassadors of Eta’am.

Eta’am was launched by a group of businessmen in the Eastern Province in an attempt to create a model for saving food, and has since spread across the Kingdom.

If you want to know more about the NGO, or for them to collect leftover food, visit their website, www.saudifoodbank.com., or their Twitter account, @SaudiFoodBank.
