RIYADH — Sun & Sand Sports (SSS), the largest sports retailer in the region, has signed as a sponsor for Al-Hilal Football Club, one of the leading football teams in the region, for the upcoming season of Saudi Professional League.

The partnership will see Sun & Sand Sports work alongside Al-Hilal to activate sport and football in the Kingdom over the next three years and will include their name appearing on the club jersey, as well as partnerships and events. The official kit including the team’s new jersey for the next season will be unveiled within the next few days.

Moreover, the chairman of the board of directors of Al-Hilal Club, Prince Nawaf Bin Saad, expressed his pleasure at the agreement saying: “We are pleased to announce our partnership with Sun & Sand Sports company which reflects the leadership of Al-Hilal Club in the area, and we are seeking for the one-team spirit with our partner to achieve the superiority through this partnership and provide what is befitting the name of Al-Hilal and its fans.”

Commenting on the contract, Mohammad Baker, deputy chairman of Gulf Marketing Group and CEO of Sun & Sand Sports said: “We consider the Kingdom as one of our main markets and being one of the biggest retail companies in the Kingdom we are always seeking to build strong partnerships with the domestic community. Our cooperation with Al-Hilal Club serves our target in which Al-Hilal is one of the most successful clubs and this partnership will allow us to reach a huge number of fans and we hope to inspire football lovers in the area.”

It is worth noting that 30 percent of Sun & Sand Sports business is in Saudi Arabia; where it has 17 stores now and is planning to open more stores in the next few years. Furthermore, the company’s expansion plans come in line with the growth of the retail sector in the Kingdom that reached 13 percent last year and is expected to reach 14 percent by 2020 according to Euromonitor International numbers.
