FOLLOWING the announcement of the new transformation program, where do women stand with regard to the future plans of this country and Vision 2030?
Over the past 10 years, Saudi women have proved themselves in various fields and have exerted painstaking efforts to change some social traditions. They have done their best and there is no doubting that. All these efforts are commendable and praiseworthy. I am not going to mention any names but will focus on the fields in which women have left their imprints.
Many women who are pioneers in the field of charity have contributed a lot and have worked hard to develop philanthropic work. They have taken the helm of various charity foundations and have added a lot to this field.
Some of them have revolutionized the values and concepts in this field and have introduced new concepts, such as productive families and volunteer work. These changes have directly and indirectly impacted Saudi society. Women have been able to solve problems and help society overcome challenges such as poverty.
What about science? Women have made great scientific achievements at the global level. We have many female Saudi scientists at renowned academic institutions and centers in different parts of the world.
To date, Saudi women continue to surprise the world with great accomplishments. That is why they should be part and parcel of the new transformation program and should be given more opportunities to play a bigger role in economic development.
There are many major challenges ahead for Saudi women, who should prove to the world that they can overcome challenges and become role models for other women all over the globe. They can play a pivotal role in expediting the success of Vision 2030.
