RIYADH — Through monitoring what is being published in the social media, a man was found using the live program “You Now” to tempt people to commit immorality via live video clips, Col. Fawaz Bin Jameel Al-Maiman, spokesman of Riyadh Province Police said.
This the men did without any respect for the sanctity of the holy month, Islamic morals, public order and the reactions including tweets by members of the society who demanded taking such people to task, arresting them and protecting the young people especially adolescents from such programs.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of Riyadh Province Police identified the man, apprehended him and took him into custody. The police informed the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution (BIP) branch to implement the anti-cybercrimes regulation against the man.
Al-Maiman stressed the importance of everybody’s cooperation in “protecting our values and public morals by reporting immediately to the pertinent authority in order to thwart attempts to undermine these values, the society’s safety and the nation’s security.”
Meanwhile, the Border Guard in Jazan Province foiled an attempt to smuggle 365 kg of hashish in Al-Daer sector of Jazan, spokesman of the Border Guard, Navy Col. Saher Bin Muhammad Al-Harbi said.
Several people were monitored during their attempt to cross into the Kingdom at the borders coming under the jurisdiction of Al-Daer sector. They were carrying the contraband on their backs. The smugglers were arrested and a total quantity of 365 kg of hashish was seized. The confiscated drugs were handed over to the pertinent authorities for further measures.
In a separate incident, the Border Guard in Asir Province foiled an attempt by two Yemenis to smuggle 300 kg of hashish into the Kingdom on Saturday aboard a boat. The Border Guard noticed the boat trying to enter Saudi territorial waters at Al-Qahma sector in Asir Province.
The two Yemenis were arrested along with several people who were waiting on the shores to receive the contraband. The hashish was seized. The drugs and arrested men were handed over to the pertinent authorities to take measures in line with the regulations, Col. Saher Al-Harbi said.
In another development, Spokesman of the Border Guard Col. Saher Al-Harbi said that the maritime patrols of the Border Guard in Makkah Province foiled an infiltration attempt by a group of people on Sunday. They tried to enter into the territorial waters of the Kingdom at Al-Leeth sector aboard a wooden boat coming from the Sudanese coast. The 33 people were of various nationalities (21 Sudanese, 5 Ethiopians, and 7 Chadians), including 6 women and 5 children.
Col. Al-Harbi stated that legal measures would be taken against the offenders in accordance with the border security regulation.
In another development, Customs officers at Jeddah Islamic Port thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,751,000 Captagon tablets.
The Port Customs' Acting Director General Saad Al-Buqumi said that the tablets were hidden inside a consignment of electric cables that arrived at the port.
In another development, the Directorate General of Prisons along with businessmen and charitable institutions are exerting great efforts and carrying out initiatives to release a big number of private right prisoners, who are required to pay debts. The condition required of these prisoners is that they should have completed their prison term. What is preventing their release is only the payment of debts.
Director of Ideological and Moral Guidance Administration Col. Muhammad Bin Abdullah Bin Duhaish said 1,255 inmates in all the prisons of the Kingdom’s regions have benefited from financial assistance reaching SR34 million from the beginning of 1437H until today. This depicts the Islamic solidarity and brotherhood among the people of this nation.
Asked about those who benefited from the financial assistance during Ramadan only, Col. Bin Duhaish said 425 inmates who fulfilled the conditions benefited from the initiative. They received a total of SR11 million. — With additional inputs from SPA
