69.5% of pension beneficiaries are women

MAKKAH — The Public Pension Agency reported that 69.5 percent of pension beneficiaries are women, Makkah newspaper reported.

A source said the Public Pension Agency 2015 report revealed there are a total of 420,984 beneficiaries of pensions of deceased clients. “Out of these, 172,979 beneficiaries are daughters of the deceased clients, 119,909 are wives of the deceased clients, 99,840 are sons of the deceased clients and 28,256 in the “other” category to the deceased clients.” said the source.

The source also said there are 132,177 beneficiaries who are under 20 years of age.

“Of the beneficiaries, 87,002 were aged between 20 and 29, 34,720 were aged between 30 and 39, 30,758 were aged between 40 and 49, 43,623 were aged between aged 50 and 59 and 92,704 were older than 59 years of age,” said the source.

The source also said the reason why most of the beneficiaries are women is because there is no age limit to women receiving the pension of the deceased clients while there is a limit for men.
