RIYADH — The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation offered mobile repair workshops to university and college female students is proving to be a draw.

An accredited trainer for mobile repair Maryam Al-Subaie said the corporation is encouraging women to work in the telecommunication sector by offering mobile repair and mobile sale workshops for women.

“Women take part in the free workshops offered by the corporation because they seek work and investment opportunities in the telecommunication industry. The courses are offered in various areas in the Kingdom,” said Al-Subaie.

She added most of the women partaking in the workshops are college and university students.

“There is also a good number of trainers wishing to develop and open their own business in women colleges, institutes and telecommunications complexes,” said Al-Subaie.

Another accredited trainer for mobile repair Huda Al-Hikami said mobile repair workshops are very popular among women.

“It is a new field that espouses business and technology. The women currently partaking in the training are pioneers in the field and have the freedom to pave the way for the next batch of trainees,” said Al-Hikami.

Computer science student and graduate of the fundamentals of mobile repair workshop Nawal Al-Mutairi said the workshop has enlightened her with the fundamentals of smart phone technology.

“Even though I have a background in computer science, I learned a lot from this workshop. The skills and knowledge I acquired will help me in my future career and in my studies,” said Al-Mutairi.

Graduate of the fundamentals of mobile repair workshop Saadiyah Al-Hadadi said she always loved technology and was very interested in smart phones.

“I completed a mobile repair workshop and then took an entrepreneurship workshop. Then I borrowed some money from the bank to start my own business,” said Al-Hadadi.
