TAIF — Seven people were trapped in floodwaters around Bani Saad village, south of Taif, on Friday. Taif Maysan Civil Defense operations director Capt. Fawaz Al-Hilaify said the area saw brief but heavy rainfall on Friday that led to flash flooding, leaving the village cut off. The Civil Defense also rescued three people, including a handicapped man, from a car that had become trapped by the flooding. Four occupants in a second trapped vehicle were also rescued. The Civil Defense worked to drain water from streets in the area and open them to traffic.

Expat woman stabbed to death

MAKKAH — An expatriate woman died after she was fatally stabbed by a man in his early 30s. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said the 35-year-old woman and her assailant were both of an Asian nationality. Officers found the woman’s body bearing multiple stab wounds. The suspect was arrested three hours after the incident was reported and the case has been forwarded to the pertinent authority.

Three car thieves arrested

JEDDAH — Police arrested three young men for stealing vehicles from various neighborhoods of Jeddah. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said the police received several reports of vehicles being stolen. After investigating the incidents, officers noticed a consistent pattern in the crimes, which led the police to believe they had been committed by the same person or gang. After correctly predicting the location of the next theft, officers caught the thieves in the act and arrested three men, all of them in their 20s. The trio led the police to the rest of the stolen vehicles, which were subsequently returned to their owners.

Child killed in missile strike

NAJRAN — A child died and four other people were injured after they were hit by a missile launched from Yemen on Saturday. Najran Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Gen. Ali Al-Shihrani said the Civil Defense received reports on Saturday morning of the missile strike, killing a Saudi boy and wounding three expatriates and a Saudi man. All victims were transported to a local hospital.

Over 93,000 drug pills seized from truck

TABUK — The Custom Control seized 93,094 amphetamine pills in a smuggling attempt. Al-Hudaithah Customs Director Ibrahim Al-Enizi said the Custom Control received a suspicious shipment on a truck. After thorough inspection, the officers found amphetamine pills hidden inside the truck’s spare tire.
