BURAIDAH — The quality control department at Buraidah Dates Festival confiscated around 81 truckloads of dates for violating the festival's rules and regulations.
Abdullah Al-Mutlaq, chairman of the department, said since the beginning of the festival 81 truckloads, which is equal to more than 2,000 cartons of 3 kg each, were seized after they were issued notices for various violations.
He said the number is very low when compared to 25,000 trucks that have brought dates to the festival from all over the Qassim region.
He said regulatory and enforcement officers will continue their tasks in their quest to uncover all manipulators who violate rules and regulations in order to ensure quality of the products and overall food safety.
CEO of Buraydah Dates Festival 2016 Abdulaziz Al-Mahous stressed that the objective of the quality control committee is to detect any fraud or manipulation and it will not neglect any violations that pose a threat to public health.
Al-Mahous said the health of citizens and shoppers, product quality and safety are among the priorities of the festival management.
