100 more inspectors to detect violations

JEDDAH — The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has added 100 more inspectors to document violation of Saudization rules in the telecom sector. Abdul Minim Al-Shihri, a senior official in the labor office in Riyadh, said inspection tours will continue to take action against violators of the rules.

According to latest ministry findings, 46,000 Saudi youth have been trained to get jobs in this sector. Training is being provided in repairing mobile sets, customer service and sales. Other special training courses have been devoted to small business owners.

Abdullah Al-Qhahtani, who managed to start his own business in the telecommunication sector, took his two sons, Mohammad and Abdulaziz, to teach them the basic skills to buy and sell the gadgets. He said, “my primary goal is to allow them to benefit from their free time in this summer vacation. I also want to train them and give them skills that will be beneficial for them in the future. My kids are keen to learn basic buying, selling and customer service skills.”

Andullah Bakishwain, head of the social service and continuous training center at the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), noted 6,532 youth were trained last moth. The training has been provided in Makkah, Jeddah, Taif and Al-Qunfudah. He added that they have presented a new training program entitled “advanced cell phone repair” in various regions including Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, the Eastern Province and Asir. He added that Makkah region tops the list in terms of training youth in the telecommunication sector.
