CAIRO — After a 10-year absences, the famous glass squash court by the pyramids of Giza is back with Egypt hosting the Al-Ahram Squash Open from September 17 to 23, with total prize money at USD200,000.
Over 50 players will be participating in the championship, including many Egyptian players and others from around the world.
Head of the Egyptian Squash Association, Essam Khalifa, said that he is glad that Egypt has again organized the Al-Ahram Squash Open, and added that the idea for the championship came from writer Ibrahim Hegazy.
He added that the championship would be a great platform to draw the world’s attention to Egypt and that the return of the championship had been welcomed by the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Tourism and Egypt Tourism Authority.
Al-Ahram Establishment chairman, Ahmed El Nagar, said that their sponsorship for the championship was to prove to the world that Egypt can hold such events and that the success of the championship would be the perfect answer for any attach against Egypt.
