ALJ, Sumitomo Corp enterprise reflects Japanese firms’ trust in Saudi economy

“JAPAN will support the Kingdom in achieving the objectives of its ambitious economic plan ‘Saudi Vision 2030,’ especially after the great understandings achieved toward fresh cooperation during the visit of Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and defense minister, during his recent visit to Japan,” said Consul General of Japan Matahiro Yamaguchi.

In a statement to local press on Wednesday after attending the opening of the new facility of Abdul Latif Jameel Machinery (a joint venture between Abdul Latif Jameel and Sumitomo Corporation) and Japanese Komatsu Company in Jeddah, he said the new facility will offer a wide range of services to industrial and heavy machinery, in the presence of Japanese Ambassador Norihiro Okuda, Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, chairman of the board and CEO of ALJ, and Tetsuji Ohashi, president and CEO of Komatsu Ltd.

Yamaguchi, who had supervised the establishment of the Saudi-Japanese Automobile High Institute (SJAHI) in Jeddah, said that Japan does not have interest only in the economic sector in its relation with the Kingdom, but also has interest in the human aspect for the aim of qualifying Saudi youth in technical and scientific fields, and transfer of the Japanese experience to them to contribute to the development of their country.

He concluded his statement by expressing his happiness at the opening of this new facility that enhances the status of Japan’s economic presence in the Kingdom in general and in the Western Region in particular.

The inauguration ceremony of the was attended by Japanese Ambassador Norihiro Okuda, Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, chairman and CEO of ALJ and Tetsuji Ohashi, president and CEO of Komatsu Ltd and other dignitaries.
