The 55-year-old Diab has a career that spans over 30 years and a huge following across the Middle East. Diab is often referred to as the Father of Mediterranean Music, a style that blends Western and Egyptian rhythms.

Diab has received the Best Selling Middle Eastern Artist award four times at the Most World Music Awards, starting with his 1996 album for Nour El Ain, 2001 for album Akter Wahed, 2007 album El Lillady, and El Leila in 2013.

At the 2014 World Music Awards, Diab was also won Best Egyptian Artist, Best Male Arab Artist, and World’s Best Arab Male Artist Voted Online.

When receiving the GWR award, Daib said: “I would like to first thank my fans for making this possible, I couldn’t have reached here without their support. It’s such an honor to represent Egypt with one of the world’s most accredited organizations.”
