JEDDAH — Tellicherry Cricket Forum (TCF), one of the leading softball cricket organizers in Jeddah, has unanimously elected its office-bearers for the next season at its 9th annual general body meeting here recently.
The AGM also congratulated its ex-president Mohammed Faseesh, who has been nominated as the first president of the Western Province Softball Cricket Association (WPSCA), which was formed recently by Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC), the official cricket board in the Kingdom under International Cricket Council (ICC).
Faseesh said that it is an honor and recognition for the entire TCF team which played a crucial role in encouraging and popularizing the softball cricket tournament in the city since its inception in 2009. It was well acknowledged by the cricket-mad expatriate communities of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The annual meeting approved the plan for the 2017 TCF Cricket Tournament. The AGM also elected Shahanad Oliyat as the president and Zafeel Backer as general secretary.
The other office-bearers are: Riyaz Abdul Khader (vice president), Abdul Khader Mochery (treasurer/media), Mohammed Faseesh (chief coordinator), Shamseer Oliyat (tournament convener), Tajmal Babu Adiraja (PRO), Anwar Sadath V.P. (PRO) and Ali C.C.O, Faheem, Anwar Sadath T.M. and Nabeel (chief patrons). Meeting also elected Mohammed Thanzeem and Razik VP as new executive members.
TCF is the first organization which conducted the flood-lit cricket tournament in Jeddah and it has been organizing tournaments without fail since 2009 by promoting the slogan of “sports for unity” among the expatriate community. The tournament has become a big hit among the cricket-loving expatriate communities.
The new president Shahanad said, “We will be organizing the 9th edition of the tournament by introducing a lot of new innovative ideas and focus on giving more entertainment. We are more concerned about our fans and have the responsibility to deliver the best tournament for the cricket lovers here.”
The tournament will be held in February 2017 with 16 teams at the same BMT grounds. There will be 31 matches. According to tournament convener Shamseer teams who wish to participate in 9th edition of the event may register their teams by sending email to tcfsaudi@gmail.com”. — SG
