JEDDAH — Till now 2,900 job seekers have found distance working jobs, said Abdulrahman Al-Zahrani, head of the Human Resource Development Fund Jeddah, while stating that their objective is to offer distance jobs for 140,000 individuals by 2020.

He noted that companies, which offer distance jobs without registering on the online Takamol portal will be considered as violators, and they are creating a system that would reduce and prevent such violations. The employee will get a minimum wage of SR3,000. In addition the company will receive support from HRDF for employing Saudis and the employee will be considered as 1 employee in the Saudization quota of the company.

Al-Zahrani told Saudi Gazette that “There is a proposal now which will be put on Ma3an portal where the public can express their views about considering the disabled person who work from home as 4 employees in the Saudization quota.”

According to him there are 10 providing companies that link job seekers to companies looking for candidates. He noted that these service companies have provided so far 2,900 employees to 600 companies, which operate in different fields.

Asked about the main challenges that face this recruitment process he said, “There is a crucial need to increase awareness among companies who are skeptical about how to observe and communicate with employees. In addition there is a need to increase awareness among individuals, who might resist such jobs.”

Initially the goal was to serve women and disabled people but this will soon include men clarified Al-Zahrani.

Aid Al-Garni the head of the business sector at Sila, which is one of the service providing companies, said that they have 50,000 applicants on their database and among them are women who were on scholarships abroad. He noted that they have served 432 companies and provided jobs to many women and disabled people.

He noted that they started working two years back but distance employment has started officially in February 2016.

The workload, he added, is based on the agreement between the two parties (employer and employees) and it might not be on daily basis but based on the productivity. He noted that they are applying a special system to evaluate the productivity of the employee and prevent any fake Saudization. The productivity report will be filed to the human research at the company, he added.
