EP students bask in glory with UCMAS win

DAMMAM — Students from the Eastern Province, Dammam and Jubail, basked in glory as they achieved high laurels at the 21st UCMAS Abacus & Mental Arithmetic International Competition held in Dubai, on Nov. 11.

A large contingent of 35 children from the UCMAS Abacus Center Dammam/Jubail had attended the competition this year. While competing with over 3,000 participants from 58 countries, 3 students from the Center won Champion Trophies, while 10 students won 1st position, 10 students secured 2nd position and 9 students were placed in the third position.

By securing a total of 32 trophies in different categories, the Center emerged as the top most institute in the International Competition. This also enabled the Kingdom to secure an overall second place in the competition.

The champion trophies were won by Vraj Anand Kumar, Jannani Rajesh and Nandana Krishna. Hala Daas, Abubakr Siddique, Ananya Jeyasankar, Kaustubh Mahajan, Afsheen Fazila Shaik, Chinmay Bhandurge, Yashwini Krishnanurthy, Abhiram Anil, Suryanaryan Shenoy, Om Bhushan Ogale got first place in different categories.

The students who secured second position are Zunairah Maheen, Alia Amani, Fariha Inayat, Mohammed Omar, Anurag Agarwal, S.V. Dharun, Advita Manish, Vaibhav Amar Urs, Saathik Basha and Huzaifa Mulla
Vishnu Murali Krishnan, Shlok Vijay Shelar, Tanvi Vijay Shelar, Nikhil Yadav, Samyakumar B. Patel, Yousuf Mohammed, Ashik George, Sandeep Srinivasan and Arjun Anil got third position.

This was the seventh time that the Dammam-Jubail Center participated in the International competition and brought laurels for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Center Director Mrs. Samina Mazher Husain was exuberant with the success of her students and for returning with championship and other trophies. She said, winning trophies while competing with such a large number of contestants was a great achievement. She showered praises for the help and assistance provided by the course instructors in preparing the students.

Abacus is a time-tested tool of doing calculations with lightning speed without using any calculators. The most important aspect of the UCMAS Abacus is recognized worldwide for its proven results, with the most obvious being the learner’s fantastic mental ability and speedy calculation.
