BURAIDA — A criminal lawsuit may be filed against a distributor who tried to sell 810,000 rotten chickens.

Last week 25 truckloads of rotten chickens were seized en route to sales points in Madinah and Makkah.

A criminal lawsuit may be filed if the negligence of the distributor was proved beyond doubt.

Qasim Governor Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal, who is closely following up on the case, formed a committee comprising representatives from the governorate, the municipality and the ministries of agriculture, health and commerce to investigate the matter.

Undersecretary of Buraidah municipality Abdulaziz Al-Muhawas said the documents presented by the supplier showed that it had handed over the consignment to the distributor about six months ago. All the chickens were safe for human consumption at that time.
