AL-KHOBAR — The district court in Al-Khobar has postponed the trial of a Lebanese resident and his Saudi accomplice who allegedly persuaded a Saudi girl to embrace Christianity and helped her flee the country.



The case has now been adjourned to Oct. 14, as there were concerns about ensuring a fair trial for the defendants. The court on Tuesday was due to look into the case.



The case came to light during Ramadan when the girl’s father lodged a complaint with the court in Al-Khobar against the two defendants.

He accused them of persuading his daughter to embrace Christianity as well as smuggling her from the Kingdom via Bahrain to stay in one of the churches abroad.



Hamoud Al-Khalidi, the family’s lawyer, confirmed the court adjourned the hearing due to shortcomings in legal proceedings.

The Lebanese suspect is still held in custody.
