RIYADH — Cengage, an education and technology company, has signed an agreement with Tatweer Company for Educational Services (T4edu), to deliver professional development programs for the Ministry of Education's English teachers. Cengage will provide 1,000 teachers with online access to its National Geographic Learning ELTeach resource. The agreement was finalized at a signing event in Riyadh.

"Saudi Arabia continues to show its commitment to education, as evidenced by the country’s significant investments in quality learning materials,” said Alexander Broich, executive vice president, Cengage International. “We are honored to support the country’s teachers of English with our ELTeach program, enabling English language learning to be introduced to students earlier in their studies.”

Having enrolled 1,000 English language teachers in National Geographic Learning’s ELTeach program, T4edu Chief Officer, Content and Technology Solutions Dr. Nasser H. Al-Uwaishiq complimented the partnership: “T4edu is looking forward to successfully conducting professional development programs for English teachers in partnership with Cengage. Teachers participating in this program will significantly improve their teaching skills contributing to the continued improvement and development of the teaching and learning of English for the benefit of students in the Kingdom through T4edu initiated programs.”

Cengage’s National Geographic Learning ELTeach is an online, integrated professional development, assessment and certificate program, supporting teachers of English through coursework and assessments in English-for-Teaching and Professional Knowledge for English Language Teaching (ELT).

The program is aimed at improving the level of English for the classroom and focuses on online speaking and listening. The advanced level of the program is focused on classroom methodology and is designed to help teachers with lesson planning and preparation. Upon completion of the course, all teachers have the opportunity to take either the Test of English-for-Teaching (TEFT™) or the Test of Professional Knowledge (TPK™) assessments, developed by US-based Educational Testing Service (ETS).
