JEDDAH – A Saudi woman is accused of inciting a man to kill her brother and the latter’s family members in order to take revenge against him following a family dispute.
The Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution has leveled a list of charges against the woman and the court is expected to issue its preliminary verdict within the next few weeks.
The prosecutor has demanded death sentence for the woman as well as for the hired criminal.
“If the court decides not to sentence them to death, it is likely to impose harsh punishment on them considering their horrendous crime,” an informed source said.
The woman and the culprit are also charged with fornication. The prosecutor has presented medical reports as well as statements of the woman and criminal for the court’s verification.
According to the list of charges made against the woman, the bureau accused her of inciting an individual, whom she came to know through the social media, to kill her brother for a cash award of SR30,000.
The man agreed to carry out the criminal mission and since then he was looking for an opportunity. One day he was able to pour acid on the woman’s brother when he was with his family.
“This resulted in causing third degree burns to the woman’s brother in addition to losing his eyesight,” the source told Okaz/Saudi Gazette. The brother’s wife and five children received similar burns while some of them have lost their sights.
The acid attack has disfigured bodies of the brother’s family members, the source said.
The culprit ran away from the spot before police could catch him. Investigations then proved involvement of the victim’s sister in the criminal attack.
Officers of the criminal investigation department checked the criminal’s cell phone and found that he was in continuous contact with the woman.
Security officers then created a trap for the culprit and caught him while the victim and his family identified the attacker.
Investigations proved that the woman had given the 1st defendant SR30,000 in cash to commit the crime. She also promised him SR1 million and a Rolls Royce car to finish off her brother.
She had also agreed to pay another SR1 million to all individuals who participate in the operation. “The woman decided to kill her brother because of a family dispute,” the source said.
The woman acknowledged that she had used various social media networks including WhatsApp, Imo, Snapchat, Instagram and emails to contact the culprit.
The criminal acknowledged that he was following the woman’s brother in central Jeddah soon after leaving his home and poured acid on him and his family members.
