JEDDAH — Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh, head of the Senior Scholars' Commission and the Ifta Council, has asked citizens and expatriates to contribute effectively to the national campaign to donate blood to the Saudi forces along the southern borders.
The campaign, under the title: "Thank the heroes on the southern borders with your blood" will officially be launched from Makkah on Feb. 15 with the participation of all the government and private establishments in the holy city.
The Grand Mufti considered the participation in the campaign a grand religious and national duty and said the brave soldiers of the armed forces are carrying out a noble religious and national assignment.
"The armed forces are defending this great country and warding off the aggression of the enemies," he said.
Al-Asheikh said it was a Jihad to defend the Two Holy Mosques which are hugely esteemed and annually visited by millions of pilgrims from all over the world for the Haj or Umrah.
He said the armed forces along the southern borders have achieved great victories over the enemies at various levels and in various fields.
"Some of them were martyred while raising high the banner of monotheism and others still sustaining injuries. It is our duty to thank them all," he said.
He said the citizens and expatriates should support the brave soldiers and pray for them.
"We have to honor, appreciate and support these forces of which we are extremely proud," he said.
