RIYADH — Air India AGM Kundan Lal Kotwal inaugurated a 10 days long exhibition, organized by Subair Kunju Foundation in association with Al Madina hypermarket, on substance abuse at the hypermarket here.
Substance abuse is one of the critical problems afflicting all countries, worldwide. It forms the earlier symptom of an addiction to a natural or a synthetic drug substance that alters consciousness and leads to interpersonal conflicts, failure to meet work, family school obligations or legal problem.
The pavilion, a part of Riyadh Initiative against Substance Abuse (RISA) campaign, was inaugurated on the world health day, and it displayed of a number of posters against substance abuse, posters related to substance abuse and the current world health day theme, ‘depression-let us talk’ and drawings and paintings and short stories received for the ongoing RISA-Al Madina contest.
Leaflet distribution, guidance for treatment and rehabilitation of smoking, alcoholism and drug abuse, documentary show are also available in the pavilion. The exhibition will continue till April 15.
Many expatriates as well as Saudi nationals are visiting the pavilion every day and signing the opinion register.
Dr. Abdul Azeez Subair Kunju, RISA convener and managing trusty of Subair Kunju Foundation, said that the RISA is also registering volunteers to further strengthening the campaign throughout the Kingdom.
The last date of submission of entries to the ongoing RISA-Al Madina contest with the theme ‘Substance Abuse-a tragic story in memory’ is extended till April 30 following many request from students and parents of majority of schools in Riyadh.

The function was marked by the presence of prominent personalities from different fields including Dr. Mohammed Ashraf Ali, president, AIUS, Rahmathulla, principal Al Yasmin School, Mohammed Azizuddin, Javed Ali, Syed Kareem Khalid, Shanoj Abdulla, Meena teacher, hypermarket director Shamsheer Thundiyil, Operation manager Shihab Kodiyathur, Umar KT and Shaju K C from Mass Riyadh.
