JEDDAH – The Department of Education in Jeddah announced on Tuesday evening that all schools in Jeddah, Rabigh and Khulais will remain closed on Wednesday due to bad weather, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Hamoud Al-Sukhairan, spokesman of the department, said that a decision to suspend the classes was taken for the safety of students following a forecast from the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection and the concerned authorities with regard to weather conditions.
King Abdulaziz University and Jeddah University will also remain closed on Wednesday.
The Makkah region witnessed heavy sandstorm Tuesday. Bad weather is expected to continue through Wednesday, according to the authority forecast.
CBSE exam at IISJ not be affected
International Indian School, Jeddah will remain closed on Wednesday, in compliance with instructions from the Ministry of Education, according to Syed Masood Ahmed, principal of IISJ.
“However, AISSCE (All India Senior School Certificate Examination) board examination will be conducted as per schedule and will not be affected,” he told Saudi Gazette.
Those students who chose physical education as an optional subject will sit for the examination on the day, Ahmed added.
