JEDDAH — Prominent Pakistani journalist and editor “Overseas file” Rana Farooq Tahir said that overseas Pakistani are truly an asset to the country. Their remittances play vital role in the national economy.
While speaking at a reception organized by Pakistan media group (PMG) in his honor at Mehran restaurant recently, Tahir further said our newspaper “Overseas file” is trying to solve the problems of overseas Pakistanis.
“We in our own way have reduced the problems of overseas Pakistan’s by highlighting their issues to the authorities and government,” he said.
Tahir, who was visiting Saudi Arabia for the first time, performed Umrah and visited the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
He expressed his gratitude to King Salman and his government for the comfortable arrangement for pilgrims in performing Umrah. He praised the neat and clean facilities at Harmain Sharifain (holy mosque).
He said, “Saudi Arabia is the Qibla of Islam. We all must respect it. Those who are living in this holy land are lucky. They can visit the two holy mosques whenever they wish.”
Arshad Munir, in his address, congratulated Tahir on performing Umrah. He said, “The doors of the Consulate is open to all Pakistanis without any discrimination. We welcome all members of the community and have kept service and their welfare as our priority.”
Malik Mohiuddin, senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, (PML-N), said, “Honest journalism is an antidote to society’s status.” He appealed to Pakistani journalists to raise the issues of overseas Pakistanis.
Choudhry Rizwan president PMG, Ghulam Nabi Butt, member Kashmir committe Jeddah, Bilo Sher, and Syed Ehsan-ul-Haq also spoke on the occasion.
In conclusion, Arshad Munir presented a shield to Rana Farooq Tahir.
